Famous Broadway actress Margo Channing has entered her forties and is somewhat concerned about her future career. After one performance, her friend Karen, the wife of playwright Lloyd Richards, brings a provincial fan into her dressing room: the young Eve Harrington, who tells her a moving story of having grown up in poverty and lost her young husband in the recently concluded war.

Moved by Eve's story and intrigued by her sincerity and simplicity, Margo hires her as a personal assistant who, in addition to her professional duties, begins to take care of the actress's private affairs. Eve becomes increasingly important to Margo, who at first fails to notice how ambitious her young assistant is and how she is making a name for herself in the theatre world, to the point where she will be able to perform on stage as her understudy…

Throughout June, Tuškanac Visiting presents a selection of films featuring costume designs by Edith Head, one of the most influential costume designers in cinema history. Over a career spanning more than fifty years, she collaborated with some of the twentieth century’s biggest film stars, including Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Bette Davis, creating distinctive fashion and visual identities for nearly 500 film productions. Head won a record eight Oscars for costume design, and received a total of thirty-five nominations, making her the most-nominated woman in the history of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
