On the cusp of middle age, the married Oki was having an affair with the 16-year-old girl Otoko, who then gave birth to their stillborn child. She then attempted suicide, and he ended their relationship. Years later, Oki is a famous writer, and the novel that made him famous is about an older man's relationship with a much younger woman. Otoko, meanwhile, has become a well-known painter and painting teacher, but she has never recovered from the trauma of losing her loved one and her child, and has become a lesbian.
Her favourite student is the beautiful Keiko, with whom she is in a romantic relationship. Fifteen years after his love affair with Otoko, Oki, whom Otoko has never got over and who now has an adult son, leaves Tokyo for Kyoto to meet her again.
But Keiko has her own plans for Oki and Otoko, and devises a way to free the beloved Otoko from her trauma and get revenge on Oki…
