The second screening of the Cherry Pick accompanying programme, as part of the 5th edition of the Cherry Pop Festival, features the documentary film Home Sweet Home (Germany, 2023) by Annika Mayer.
Through Super 8 family home videos from the 1960s and testimonies about a violent husband, the film reveals the discord between the idyllic image of family life and the reality of domestic violence. Contrasting images of everyday life with memories of traumatic experiences, the film questions the ways in which violence remains invisible within the private sphere.
The film will be shown with English subtitles only, and admission is free.
