The award is given for a literary work of any genre: literary essays, short stories, poetry, drama, novels or hybrid forms, which, alongside undeniable literary quality, reflect the values of inclusivity, an open society, equality, genuine freedom of speech, and the broader humanistic values championed by Predrag Matvejević.

From 17 to 19 June 2026, Documenta – Centre for Confronting the Past is organising the second edition of the ‘No-Oblivion’ festival, dedicated to the culture of remembrance, human rights and social responsibility.
