SWEET CHERRIES 3 and awards ceremony

Saturday, 24 October 2026 at 7 pm

The final block of the Sweet Cherries short film programme brings together four films that explore sexual identities, social norms, reproductive autonomy and the complexities of intimate relationships.

The documentary film Hyodo's Paradise (Jacque Rabie, USA, 22′) presents a portrait of a peculiar man who lives near Tokyo surrounded by hundreds of sex dolls, creating his own world between reality and fantasy. The experimental Daria's Night Flowers (Maryam Tafakory, France/Iran/United Kingdom, 16′) explores forbidden love, female autonomy and resistance to social repression, drawing on cinematic depictions of women's experiences.

The animated documentary Abortion Party (Julia Mellen, Spain, 13′) speaks about reproductive rights and self-determination through the personal experience of an abortion and an unusual celebration, while the fiction film A South Facing Window (Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, France/Mongolia, 20′) follows a young married couple on the brink of divorce, trapped in Ulaanbaatar's traffic congestion and confronted with their own unresolved conflicts.

The films will be shown with English subtitles only, and admission is free.

After the final block of short films at 8:15 pm, the official awards ceremony will take place, with which Dokukino at the Surogatkino KIC will conclude the fifth edition of the Cherry Pop Festival.
