Every year, three brothers – Zekir, Zarif and Zani – spend several months in the Macedonian mountains looking after the family flock. The elder brothers, Zekir and Zarif, lead the sheep to the upper pastures, while the younger, Zani, stays in the lower cabin and looks after the cows. At an altitude of 2,400 metres, far from any community or society, the brothers live a free but precarious life, filled with hard work, simple games and innocent joy. As they grow up, many questions arise in their minds: who are they, individually and in relation to each other? Can they live sustainably as shepherds? What does the future hold for them? As tensions grow between Zekir and Zarif, the latter wishes to change his life.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with the film's director, Petra Seliškar, moderated by film critic Dina Pokrajac. The film is being shown as part of the 2nd Travelling Macedonian Film Festival, organised by the Macedonian Cultural and Information Centre in Zagreb.

Reviews:
Avoiding the romantic myths and stereotypes to which more recent, acclaimed films from North Macedonia about the minority experience have not been immune, The Mountain Won't Move presents a more sensitive and nuanced picture of the lesser-known customs of a small Macedonian community, but it also dwells on its least expected, deeper phenomena and questions, suggesting, even in its title, a very conservative, symbolically laden understanding of such an enclave. – Lucija Furač, Dokumentarni.net
