Somewhere on the battlefield, the mentally retarded Kavi cares for an injured sparrow, while around him Croatian soldiers stave off boredom during a lull in the fighting... The drug addict Duda feverishly tries to get hold of money for drugs and goes to her brother to borrow five hundred kuna... A pensioner, Josip, lives in a hotel for bachelors, and a temporary guest at the hotel, a young and attractive German tourist of Croatian descent, surprisingly invites him to dinner... A well-known theatre and television actor visits his ex-wife, but instead of a reconciliation, the rift between them deepens... A former Croatian soldier, Karlo, is having problems with drug traffickers and is suffering because he has lost contact with his ex-girlfriend and their little son... A demobilised Croatian soldier, Lala, “listens to” the night, while his son calls for him to come to bed in vain...
